Umi Sushi at Darling Quarter is the go to Japanese place during weeknights. Mostly because they had an opening sushi special for nearly the whole year. We later heard that their udon was hand made, so we went there to try them out. We sat next to the sushi train and just couldn’t resist grabbing plates after plates of sushi.
The cold sake came in chilled shot glasses and interesting looking ‘hole in the middle’ filled with ice sake pourer.
The broths for the udon were well flavoured. This was the pork belly with added hot spice.
This ramen looked good, but didn’t compare with the darker ramen (pic above).
This is the spinach infused ramen. We are very adventurous with our food, but this ramen did not live up to our expectations.
This is a pretty cute, eye catching Xmas tree filled with miniature stuff toys!
And their happy hour selection ain’t bad either.
We felt a bit sad the opening special is no longer available at Darling Quarter. However, there is a happy ending as Umi has now opened a new store in the George St cinemas and guess what? They have an opening special there. Guess where we will be going ……
