Transformation for a Night, Sydney
Mardi Gras Bokeh, a few more…
Mardi Gras Bokeh
I don’t think this is a particularly strong shot, but I just love the way the bokeh came out. Bokeh is a photographer’s term that describes the out of focus elements of the picture. In this case you can see the circular orbs of the light reflecting off the tree leaves on the top of the photo and colourful circles on the right of the picture.
Sometimes, lenses are judged by the way they render the bokeh, in addition to the sharpness, fastness and other things. You can throw five photographers into a room with some bokehlicious pictures and they would have a big argument.

Mardi Gras, Cont’d, Sydney 2016
Outside of New Year’s Eve, there’s only about 3 other occasions when some part of Sydney streets are closed till late at night. The Chinese New Year parade used to be one. But the light rail construction has now suspended it.
The other times are Vivid in winter and Mardi Gras. All of Oxford St Darlinghurst is closed off from vehicles all the way down to George St cinemas in the city and I just like the vibe when everyone walks back to the train station after the end of Mardi Gras. I think this stretch goes for 5km
These photos are taken from various spots during Mardi Gras.

Girl Waiting
I get excited when I can get someone smoking. As it turned out and Maxwell Smart would say “Missed by that much.”
